Buy and use QR Code tickets directly from your smartphone: convenient, instant and always available when you need them.

As part of the digitalisation of its services, Start Romagna is introducing paper tickets with a QR Code: a solution that speeds up boarding and makes inspections easier.

QR Code tickets speed up validation and make it easier for staff to check your ticket. Simply hold the ticket close to the green validator to complete validation.

What is a QR Code ticket

It is a standard paper ticket that includes a QR Code: instead of inserting the ticket into the validator slot, passengers simply show the side with the QR Code to the optical reader of the green validator.

The system automatically recognises the ticket, records validation and displays a clear message on the screen, accompanied by an audible signal.

Where it is available
Paper tickets with QR Code

In the Forlì-Cesena and Rimini areas, the QR Code is available on the following paper tickets:

  • Urban ticket
  • Single trip ticket
  • Multi-trip ticket
  • Day Ticket

The emerald-green validator is the same device used for credit card payments (StarTap system).

How to validate a QR Code carnet

If you are travelling with other people
To use a carnet when travelling together:
1. Press the button with the person icon on the green validator.
2. Hold the carnet’s QR Code under the light reader.
3. Select the number of passengers (for example 2, 3 or 4) and confirm with the confirm button.

If you are travelling alone
You have two options:
1. follow the same procedure, simply selecting 1 passenger and confirming;
2. or hold the ticket directly to the green reader to validate it automatically.

Frequently asked questions

How can I check if my carnet has been validated correctly?
  • Press the information button on the green validator.
  • Hold the QR Code ticket or carnet close to the reader.
The display will show zone, number of zones, expiry date, remaining trips and validated passengers.
Do I need to keep the ticket under the reader while the information is displayed?
No. Just hold the ticket close: as soon as the information appears on the display, you can move it away.
