Riccione: rubber-tired tourist train in service from 30 May
To guarantee connections in the north seafront area of Riccione, affected by traffic restrictions on the bridge in viale D’Annunzio, a special rubber-tired tourist train service will be active from Friday 30 May.
How the service works
The service runs every day, with termini at Riccione Terme and Piazzale Neruda.
Operating hours and frequency
- Morning (8:00 – 13:00): departures every hour.
- Afternoon (15:00 – 19:30): departures every hour.
- Evening (20:30 – 24:00): departures every 40 minutes.
Stops served
Between Piazzale Neruda and Viale Verdi, the tourist train serves the suspended stops of bus line 11 (stops no. 37 to 43, in both directions).
At Viale Verdi, passengers can change and continue their journey using line 11.
Line 11
Towards Rimini railway station (Rimini FS):
- the line runs along Viale Angeloni – Viale Aosta – Viale Portofino – Viale Emilia – Viale Verdi;
- then it returns to its regular route.
Towards Riccione:
the route is the same, in the opposite direction.
Metromare
The Metromare service remains fully operational with the following stops in the area:
- Marano
- D’Annunzio Nord
- Alba
Passengers can combine the tourist train, line 11 and Metromare to move easily along the north seafront.
Fares
- Morning and afternoon (8:00 – 19:30): € 1.50
- Evening (20:30 – 24:00): € 3.00
Tickets and validity
Tickets are purchased directly on board the tourist train.
Start Romagna tickets and passes (regular public transport tickets and season passes) are not valid on this service. Likewise, the tourist train ticket is valid only on the tourist train and cannot be used on other Start Romagna services.
The tourist train
The rubber-tired tourist train is a special service designed to maintain convenient connections in the north seafront area of Riccione during the traffic restrictions on the bridge in viale D’Annunzio.
It is a practical and easy-to-spot solution for residents, seasonal workers and tourists who need to reach the beaches, accommodation facilities and public transport stops.
