Accidents and Injury Claims

Information on accidents on board Start Romagna vehicles and instructions for submitting an injury claim.

Insurance coverage and damage assessment

The insurance policies taken out by Start Romagna provide compensation for personal injury or property damage in cases of direct liability. Claims are evaluated by leading insurance companies through a specific procedure, which also makes use of onboard CCTV footage when available.

Accidents and injuries on board

In case of an accident, the passenger must immediately inform the driver, provide their personal details, and send an injury claim to Start Romagna through one of the following channels:

You will need the following documents:

  • Identity document and full passenger details;
  • Tax code (Codice Fiscale);
  • First aid medical certificate;
  • Copy of the ticket or travel pass.
You must also provide all information needed to identify the exact service (line, stop, time, vehicle number).

If the accident occurs on board a vehicle belonging to a private operator working on behalf of Start Romagna, the claim must be submitted directly to the relevant operator.

Travel regulations

As stated in the Start Romagna Travel Regulations (Art. 13):

  • Passengers must use the safety handrails throughout the journey.
  • The insurance does not cover injuries if this rule is not complied with.
  • The claim must include a description of the event, vehicle number or number plate, first aid medical certificate, and a copy of the ticket/pass (both sides).
  • Start Romagna is exempt from liability for accidents that occur after the passenger has disembarked, as per Articles 1681 and 2043 of the Italian Civil Code.
